Alright! The opening round of the OMA series was hectic!! It was going great in the beginning, turned bad, then went good again! Here's a quick run through! :) So we arrived in Nashville TN, saturday at 9 o'clock in the a.m.. At the OMA's you get to run practice the day before. 10$ for 1 hr on the track! I got my bike dialed in. The right air pressure and ready to rock! Well the day before (Friday) there were tornado's and major thunderstorms. It was a little muddy. Well sunday came and I threw some new rubbers on the bike along with a set of heavy duty tubes due to the excessive rocks! I had to adjust my chain as well. **NOTE Make sure you tighten your chain adjuster bolts after tightening chain! ;) Well im at the starting line ready to rock! Im pumped! Bike couldn't be jetted any better! SO crisp. I was feeling great as well! Green flag raises and drops and the opening round of the OMA's is under way! 1st row (pro's) takes off. 2nd row (all "A" classes/my class) gets ready. Flag waves and im off! HOLESHOT BABY!!!! 1st person in the woods! I was leading my class and was running 3rd overall A within the first 5 miles still running with the 250A class! Well here's where my chain tip comes into play. I kept hearing a ticking from the rear and kept feeling some slippage from the tire. I was forced to pull over and noticed my chain was super loose and my adjusters were pushed alllll the way back! As soon as i got to an open feild, luckily the one where our rig was, i shredded over there and threw my bike on the stand, grabbed the tools and fixed it! haha. I could have qualified for the nascar pit crew! Well i screwed myself! 110% my fault.
I got the chain back to normal and everything tight and took off! I never pushed so hard in my life. I ended up riding with Jeff Fredette (long time veteran and pro) He's old, yes...but with age comes wisdom. That guy knows how to ride! I learned a few things riding with that guy! Well I was under the impression that I had ended up last in my class due to my chain fault. When i got home I looked up the results and found out that I had placed 3rd out of 7 in the Light A class and 27th overall out of 125. I looked at the lap times and came to the conclusion that I would have won if it wasnt for my FUKC up! But we learn from out mistakes and its only the first race. Theres plenty more. I just need to put the past behind me and look into the future!
