Hey, I'm from Albuquerque New Mexico. I've got an R6 now but I'm really interested in racing something a little cheaper and super singles seem like a good option!

Here's what I think the least expensive 450 road racing consists of at this point:

a 450
sending the suspension to race tech
clipons and rearsets
race body work
17" mag wheels

am I missing something? thinking noob-ish about something?

Those will be your biggest expenses so that is a really good start
things like
tire warmers,
leathers
etc are easily purchased when the time is right

your r6 is cheaper. dont be mislead thinking these are cheaper with the list of parts you have. if you want cheap use r1 rear sets and make your brackets. use aprillia rs125 fairings from airtech or ebay. laffoon used a cbr 1000 tank cover that lined up well. find used supermoto wheels. and skipracetech. use streetbike forks and have them extended. i cut the nut round on my fork cap and welded an extension on.

well I was thinking of selling my R6. how far into this could $6000 get me?

id snag a 450x so its still street legal since your selling the r6. $3000

used supermoto wheels $600

r1 rear sets $150

forks and trees $400

suspension tuning and lengthening lucky $400

plastic and brackets $ guessing 800

it all depends on how much you can do yourself. to wallet riders who pay for everything off the shelf its expensive. if you can machine spacers and turns stems on a lathe its way cheaper.

ive got a 450r and nought it for 2000 my back wheel is 500 bucks. 250 for the front.forks were 300. 100 on the fork adapters. 50 on the stem. 100 for the caliper bracket. and more money for parts wasted in the trial and error but mines a dirtfighter so its not for racing like these guys. but same general concept.

that's roughly what I was thinking as far as costs. I don't have much trouble getting good prices on gear and whatnot (work at a dealership).

I've got all the fixed non-bike related costs covered (race suit, tire warmers, trailer, etc.) likewise with tires and track fees.

The only question is whether I can get 6k for my bike!

Thanks for the info guys!
