OVERALL - 10, FMF sets the standard for a quality exhaust
FMF has a wide variety of pipes. No matter what kind of off-road vehicle you have, you can improve it with their product. They have all sorts of variations and options as to which exhaust you can run with the head pipe.
I am currently running a "Power Core 2" exhaust and "Gnarly" head pipe on my 2008 KTM 200XC. I put that combination of pipes to the test today at a local race. Dead engine start format. Right off the start, a yz 250 was next to me.
Mid-range I pulled him hard! But on top end power he walked all over me. But that may be due to the fact that he was rockin a 250 and I was on a 200.
Now my riding style isnt the same as everyone else. I like to ride a gear higher. Right about mid range. Nice and smooth. With this pipe set up, I can really ride my bike like a 4-stroke. I can come out of corners and grab a handful and it'll pull me out hard. Personal opinion, mid range is its greatest point.
Top end, you have to wait for the power band to hit. That's where the magic happens. When it hits, you'll know. In some of the straight away's, I really didn't even need a stabilizer due to the pact that it was pulling so hard that my front tire was just skimming on the ground.
On the bottom, the Gnarly head pipe comes into play. It'll get you out of the corners if you are in to high of a gear. You can really ride it out of the corners and it'll pull right into that "sweet spot"/mid range.
All in all, mid range (personally) is where this pipe set-up shines the most! Top end, you really have to wait for your bike to hook up and hit the power band in order for it to get you moving at a speed that'll put a smile on your face! :D (just like that) Bottom end wouldn't be what it is without the Gnarly head pipe! Too high of a gear? No biggie. Just keep on the gas, and itll get you moving. This combination works for me. Now keep in mind, this is based on woods racing.
You can pick up your FMF pipe at your local dealer! Make sure you do your homework on the different types of pipes so you know what suits your riding style the best and puts you on the podium!
