View Full Version : Started to rip down the yz450f, pics included

Well, tonight was the night we stripped down the 07 YZ450F. Phil and I started to just unbolt every piece of plastic that is not normal found on a street bike and there is a lot of it.

The stock shock will work great after shortening and a revalve...same with the forks. After lowering, the front end can achieve the same rake and trail as the RR components. Nice alternative if you are on a budget. The stock pieces are good quality components. JMO Tdub

Im not liking the brake choices for the MX front end which is why Im going to do what I can to convert the front end. I see a lot of the bikes are only running a single brake and caliper but Id like room for growth.

I also think there is a lot of un needed weight up front with the large MM forks.

Im looking at designing some simple lowered triple clamps that is going to make up the distance that is needed, where the standard 2006 R6 fall short in the length.

Its all a long learning process.

Hey if anyone needs parts i have some from the project i started.. have a brand new gixxer 750 front end with all the controls brakes and clip ons.. everything but the wheel, ive got about 4 different cbr 600 rear wheels in sizes from 4.5 5 and 5.5 and i think i have 2 fronts.. also have hotbodies bodywork that will fit all of the 450s.. upper lower and tail.. i might have a few other parts.. email me tom@biohazardcycles.com

put that stuff up in the forsale section with some pictures, im sure someone wants that stuff ! ! ! ! especially that 750 front end.
